Before their lunch

After their lunch–and excited about the animal crackers they’re about to get for dessert.

Last night Laura watched the boys for us while we went on a real, live date. About the only thing going on was a modern dance performance. It was pretty cool and acrobatic and stuff (despite the 30-minute dance in commemoration of the Louisiana Purchase, which I couldn’t interpret for the life of me), but I still like football better. Here’s a story on them in the South Bend Tribune. Thanks Laura!

The fireworks continue in Roseland. Dorothy finally got arrested last night. Incidentally, I saw David Snyder at a meeting at ND last week. No one talked with him. I didn’t either. I bet Jesus would have.

Jonathan is doing much better now. He’s sleeping through the night again.

In WWII American troops exported freedom and imported STDs. Thank goodness things have gotten better since the “greatest generation.”

Pray for Brenda Freed who is suffering from a brain infection. See Kris’s blog for updates.

Just put the boys to bed for their afternoon naps.

Here’s a photo of them playing on the futon this morning.

And a photo of Rosa Borntrager reading to them yesterday.

After a dinner of nine eggs, peas, and bread, we spent an enjoyable hour outside.

Some highlights of our weekend:

  • I played in ND’s massive springtime basketball tournament of over 600 teams again this year. We lost in the second round to a team of young priests. They were really good! And spiritual. After the game, we gathered to pray. I think I was the lone pagan Protestant, which was revealed when everyone except me recited a Hail Mary at the end of the prayer. I sprained my ankle pretty bad, so I’ve been limping around the past couple of days.
  • Today we went to the spring game. It was the boys’ first time in the big stadium. They enjoyed it a lot, especially Andrew who danced to the band music.
  • Jonathan is quite sick. We’re thinking we might not take him to church tomorrow morning.

Each year they unveil “The Shirt,” which is what fans are supposed to wear to the football games the next fall. They make a big party out of the unveiling and set up games for kids and give away free Cherry Coke Zero and bratwurst. Here we are waiting in line.

Here’s the unveiling. You can’t see the whole thing because they couldn’t get the cover off.

Andrew ate way too much of our buns.

Here’s Jonathan running to see his mama and brother.
